White Rim Fall '08

Another great trip on the White Rim in Canyonlands. Kent and I have tried counting how many times we've done this trip, but it's just been too many times for us to remember. This year we got a Spring and a Fall permit and both trips were amazing. In the Spring Morgan joined us for her first biking Rim experience (she did it before when she was about 2 in her carseat and trailer). We had more kids on the trip than ever before. Molly Adams (12) and her dad, Dan. Max (14) and Cole (11) Prevost. Lucas Freeze (13). We also had old-time friend Bev Ronnow and her daughter. I forgot my camera on this trip, so no documentation. It was a great trip, but about the last 10 miles, the 4WD mechanism on our vehicle broke and we couldn't drive more than 20 mph. Not that you'd want to on this trail, but it created a few complications in getting back home. We ended up spending 2 extra nights in Moab, only to end up buying a new vehicle and towing our old one to SLC for repairs. Now we have three SUV's -- Anyone need an SUV??

This Fall was the smallest group we've ever had. We were joined by Mark and Carlen Hervig from Driggs, and also Kim, Travis and Drew. The weather was awesome and we made it in our fastest time yet. We camped at Murphy's and were off the trail by 3pm which included a delay due to Travis' broken chain. Kent, Mark and Carlen pulled him for the last few miles using two bike tubes tied to his handlebars!
